Eggventure

Beam Camp Summer '24

Role: Co-Director, Fabricator, Instructor

Summary

Eggventure is a series of interactive egg shaped structures built by the 2024 Beam Campers over the course of 2 sessions. [8 weeks total] Each of the half dozen [6] eggs represent a different sensory experience forged by the community at beam each summer: look, wish, feel, listen, grow & gather.

This project was designed and proposed by graduate students of the University of Michigan. My co-director and I prototyped the physical design, planned out construction over a 4 month period, created lesson plans to instruct campers on the relevant skills. We taught basic construction and safety, metal working & welding, carpentry, basket weaving, landscaping etc to campers from age 10-18.

Each of the 120 campers played a vital roll in the construction of these eggs. Their perseverance, capability, and capacity to learn, grow and depend on each other was an inspiration to watch and a life changing experience.
